The Finest Pads Available

The orange notebook with the cult following! Rhodia notepads are a favorite of designers, artists, writers, notebook fans and people who like to use graph paper for notes, sketching and hand drafting. The bright orange covers are scored near the top to fold neatly behind the pad while writing.
The company making Rhodia pads was founded in the city of Lyon by Henri Verilhac in 1920. His younger brother Robert joined him soon afterwards. The company was named "Papeteries VERIHAC Freres." The Rhodia name derives from the Rhone in Lyon. It is said the two trees were a symbol of the two brothers. The Rhodia trademark was used for most of the products and especially the pads.
Henri and Robert Verilhac came from a family of paper merchants. The previous generation set up a family business selling paper primarily in the south of France and French overseas departments in Africa.
From 1932 onwards, the two brothers concentrated on producing and selling stationery, exercise books, and later on, the Rhodia notebook. In 1934, the company moved from Lyon to Sechilienne near Grenoble in the French Alps.
The Rhodia notebook, originally a sideline for Rhodia, was to become its most famous product. It immediately overshadowed other notebooks of that time because of its quality materials and original design of a scored folding front cover. The orange cover dates back to the 1930s. It has been kept unchanged throughout the years.
